Today at Rock Crusher RV Resort, we celebrated the end of winter. It should be noted that the end of winter has a different connotation depending on your location. For those of us here in Florida known as the Snowbirds, the end of winter signifies that it is about time to go home. For most of us, the respite from the cold north begins anywhere from mid-October to Jan first. And the end is usually April 1st although those from the far north like the UP of Michigan often stay through April. We will be heading north in the near future. I say that excitedly and with sadness. We will enjoy the reunion with family and friends and the comfort of our real house, but it is hard to leave this tranquility and a land so filled with signs of life. The trees are now shedding the dullness of winter foliage and regaining the vibrance of bright green. It is more than just a color; it is an overwhelming feeling of life expressed by the color.

Today’s celebration started with a pie eating contest which was followed by a water gun parade of golf carts. The cart drivers and passengers were armed with water guns of varying sizes and shapes. The street-side observers were also armed and waiting in ambush. The laughter could be heard blocks away as the parade ambled through the campground.

Below, are pictures representing the pie eating contest. The contestants had to keep their hands behind their back and had to consume the top crust and pie filling. Bottom crust could remain uneaten. At the final bell, it was a petite young girl in bright yellow who was the winner. Contestants and viewers alike all had a good time.

Tonight, the festivities were topped off with hot dogs and strawberry short cake. While we waited for the hot dogs to get cooked, my friend Bud and I had a good game of Jenga.

Can you tell I don’t have a barber down here?

By this time this introvert was just about “peopled” out and Marilyn and I headed back up the hill to our little oasis in the sun. The celebration continued into the evening with a bonfire and S’mores along with an outdoor movie, “Jungle Cruise.” For us, it is time to just say good night y’all.

Love and Light,
Dulany
