They say size does not matter but in this case an extra 3 1/2 inches does make a great deal of difference.
The above picture shows my desk chair as it approaches the inside edge of the slide. You see the roller is no longer in contact with the floor because the level has dropped. The floor of the slide is about 1 inch above the finished camper flooring. On top of that raised section, they have installed carpeting to deemphasize the edge height difference but when my chair roller drops over the edge, it destabilizes the chair and rolling it back up over the hump is difficult.
By adding a piece of 1 x 4 board (actually 3/4 inch by 3 1/2 inch ) under the carpet, I can limit the different heights. I am now able to roll back an additional 3 inches which now allows the chair to swing around without hitting the arm on the desktop.
Here you can see the finished product with a stair edging installed over the edge of the carpet and anchored to the new piece of wood. If this wood were permanently installed onto the floor, the slide would not be able to come in. In the slides fully closed position, the carpet has to turn up when it reaches the island. With the board anchored to the carpet, the board can be folded back and the slide can close. Yes, my friends it is only 3 1/2 inch bigger but it has made my life better. Have a great day
